Peer Mediators Training
What is peer mediation?
Peer mediation is students helping students. Trained mediators serve as neutral third parties to aid their fellow students resolve conflicts. Two peer mediators listen to two individuals in disagreement and work with them to come to an agreement. All parties sit face-to-face and talk uninterrupted. Each person is respected and allowed to be heard. Peer mediators work with each student to identify problems and possible solutions. At the end of the mediation, the students in conflict are asked to sign an agreement.
Who can request peer mediation?
Anyone can request a mediation. A student can request a mediation for him/herself or for another student. A teacher or staff member can request a mediation. A parent can also request peer mediation for his/her child.

Do I have to go?
Mediation is always a choice. Once a request is received, student mediators offer mediation to those referred. Mediation only takes place if both individuals agree to mediate. Mediation can only be successful when both parties are interested in finding a resolution.
